People living in Rutland can hire an electric bike for one month to try this form of sustainable transport out to travel to work, school, training, or social activities they would otherwise be unable to attend. This scheme supports the government’s cycling and walking investment strategy, which aims to make sustainable transport a natural choice for shorter journeys, and as part of longer journeys. An electric bike, also known as an e-bike, is pedal-powered and has an integrated electric motor, which can be used to assist a rider. The power only engages whilst pedalling. Anyone who lives in Rutland can apply to use the scheme, which offers bikes for adults and young people over the age of 16. A short training session will be provided by a qualified instructor before the hire commences.
