Rutland Information Service

0- 5 Years

Early Years

This part of the Local Offer is about:

  • How your child's needs are identified and assessed in the early years
  • Support available to help you support your child's development
  • Childcare

You can use the subject buttons below to find information, or search the service directory.

‘Related Information’ boxes hold more detailed information and guidance than the service directory - you will find leaflets, articles and reports here rather than contact details for services.

The Local Offer for very young children

All children develop differently.

If you are worried about any part of your child’s development, talk to your health visitor, key worker, GP or someone at the children’s centre. They can give you advice and information about where to get support.

Children develop quickly in the early years and a child’s experiences between birth and five have a major impact on their future life chances.

A safe, secure and happy childhood is important in its own right.

Good parenting and high quality early learning together provide the foundation children need to make the most of their abilities and talents as they grow up.

The Early Years Foundation stage sets out the standards all early years providers must meet to ensure that children learn and develop well, are kept healthy and safe.

It promotes teaching and learning to ensure children’s ‘school readiness’ and gives children the broad range of knowledge and skills that provide the right foundation for future progress through school and life.
