The Cree centre is a beautiful building with lovely grounds located in a quiet cul-de-sac in Grantham. The grounds include beautiful flowers, decorations and large well-kept gardens. We have picnic tables, chairs and lovely areas for our service users to relax outside during the warmer months. We have an outdoor garden room with electricity and heating for a cosy winter outdoor experience with a hot drink.
Inside the centre we have lots of different areas for our service users to spend their day. We have a sensory room, a large dining room/ activity room, a large TV room and a garden room.
The Cree centre employs a full time cook to ensure our service users are provided with a delicious meal to meet their individual dietary requirements. The cook completes a monthly food menu to ensure food is varied and enjoyable for everyone. Our well-trained cook has completed all relevant training including training on providing food to individuals who are on special diets. The Cree centre meal costs £3.75, alternatively service users can bring in their own packed lunch. The Cree centre kitchen is a 5-star rated kitchen accredited by South Kesteven District Council. The Cree centre can support individuals with complex dietary needs including individuals on pureed, mashed and soft diets. Our staff members are also trained to support individuals with a P.E.G feeding tube. The Cree centre also has two tea breaks during the day. Tea, coffee and snacks are provided by the centre free of charge. Squashes are also provided during the day and at dinner time.
The Cree Centre has a well-equipped sensory room. The sensory room has lots of sensory lighting including a large bubble tower light, fibre optic lights, ceiling lights and an interactive projector light. The popular interactive projector light projects lots of different images onto the floor in the sensory room. The images are interactive so they can be moved and manipulated providing a very unique sensory experience.
The Cree Centre has a varied timetable of different activities, sessions and groups. Our weekly activities include
Arts and crafts – This group includes a variety of different arts and crafts activities such as painting, making cards, making themed craft items (For Christmas, Easter, valentine’s day etc.) making puppets, sowing, papier Mache, bubble painting, finger painting, sticking and colouring etc.
Relaxation groups – This group centres on mindfulness, wellbeing and providing a relaxing experience for the service users. Relaxation groups include painting nails, using the smell box, sensory bags and hand and foot massages. We also have aromas and a nice relaxation sound track which really sets the mood.
Music groups- Our music groups include karaoke, interactive DVD’s, sing along groups and musical instruments. We also have a wonderful lady called Alison who comes in once a fortnight to deliver a group called communication through music, the group includes, songs, props and laughter.
Gardening/ outdoor groups – This group includes planting and potting different flowers, vegetables and plants as well as collecting leaves, wildlife spotting, feeding the birds and other gardening tasks.
Games- Our games groups include board games, bingo, the parachute, bowling, the Nitendo wii as well as lots of different garden games which gets used in the warmer months.
Other groups – Other activities we do at the centre include storey reading, taste and try, baking groups, move it mobility, visits from different singers/ bands and animal visits. We also have 4 I-pads for the service users to use which are very popular.
