Community Support Service - Brightways

** In line with government advice we regret to inform you that Brightways day services are on hold during the coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak. **

The Community Support Service works to keep those aged 18+ living in their own homes for as long as they can - we see the importance of keeping local links and a familiar environment for people not only with learning disabilities, but for anyone who has lived in the local area all of their lives.

The Community Support Service is led by the people that use it, as we believe that you, the user, should shape how that service is provided. They support a wide variety of people with different needs and abilities. They offer a personalised approached and build the service around the person. They support people to reach their full potential, whether it’s teaching someone how to hang their coat up, or teaching them skills so they are able to find work.

They are primarily based at Brightways Day Centre, but also spend a lot of time in other areas. They have use of a room in Brambles, the Showground Kitchen and are looking at other venues.

They have visited HMP Stocken for sports sessions, and been to Uppingham School for drama and music – they helped one of their attendees to cut a record in their school recording studio.

They are starting to integrate more into the community and are building up links with different groups; elderly, children, mental health etc.

They are even involved with an allotment and are hoping to one day grow, cook and share with other groups.
