Community Support Service- day opportunities.
After an adult assessment, you may be identified as having day support needs.
One of the services available to meet the need is community support services.
They support a wide variety of people with different needs and abilities. They offer a personalised approached and build the service around the person.
They support with developing people to reach their full potential whether it’s teaching someone how to hang their coat up, or teaching them skills so they are able to find work.
They support whatever is valuable to each individual.
Brightways building, on the Catmose Campas, is where they are based, but spend a lot of time in other areas. They have use of a room in Brambles, the Showground Kitchen and are looking at other venues.
They visit Stockham prison for sports sessions and go to Uppingham School for drama and music – they helped one of their attendees to cut a record in their school recording studio.
They are starting to integrate more into the community and are building up links with different groups; elderly, children, mental health etc.
They are involved with an allotment and are hoping to one day grow, cook and share with other groups – may be people who are isolated, lonely, and old and possibly in village halls.
