Rutland Libraries are part of the national ‘Reading Well’ Books on Prescription scheme. Because everything changes when we read.
Libraries across Rutland hold copies of the titles on the scheme’s booklists for Mental Health, Long Term Conditions, Mental Health for Young People, and Dementia which provide readers with advice, information and support including self-help. The scheme complements existing local health services and is a simple way of delivering prevention and early intervention, self-help care and support.
The books are available from all Rutland Libraries. They can be borrowed by any library member, even without a prescription from a health professional.
Reading Well follows clinical guidelines for the treatment and support of these health needs. The books were selected by health professionals following a rigorous and evidence-based approach.
