Inclusion Service, Early Years

The Inclusion Service, Early Years provides support and guidance for children

birth to 5 their families and settings. 

There are a wide variety of childcare options for children, birth to 5 within Rutland.  Rutland County Council offer professional support and advice to maintain and promote high standards in early years settings to remove barriers to learning and improve educational outcomes for children.

In collaboration with parents and professionals the Inclusion Officers, Early Years aim to:

  • Work with parents towards positive outcomes for the child;
  • Provide information and advice on an individual basis;
  • Recommend a variety of appropriate activities and resources;
  • Liaise with professionals as required;
  • Provide setting based support as appropriate to increase inclusive practice;
  • Work alongside colleagues in early years settings to ensure the child’s needs are known and understood and what intervention strategies need to be employed;
  • Assist transition into a pre-school or school setting.

Children can be referred to the Inclusion Service, Early Years by childcare settings, Speech & Language Therapists, other health professionals, social workers, family support workers and other relevant, involved professionals.

The Inclusion Service, Early Years supports children through discussions with parents and staff, observations of children in schools and settings and liaison with other professionals.

The Inclusion Service, Early Years works with families and professionals to identify additional needs and reduce barriers to learning and contribute to the reduction of inequalities in children’s outcomes.
