SEND Castle Engagement Event June 2018 - feedback

Thank you to those who attended the recent engagement and information event at Oakham Castle. This is a summary of the feedback we asked for on the day which was focussed on communication.

We will use this to shape how we communicate in the future.

Feedback from parent/carers

Response/action/comments

“Make sure all settings and education providers are invited.”

We have held separate events for settings and schools/colleges but will include joint events again in the future if the majority feel this would be beneficial to all

“Information to schools etc to reach them sooner so can pass on to parents.”

We currently have a training programme in place for schools which should ensure they are well informed

“A chance to ask questions publicly to speakers after their presentations.”

We felt that last year the questions asked in the open forum were very specific individual situations and not relevant for all. We chose  to enable more individual conversations by making staff and agencies available for conversations after the formal presentations

“Minutes of SEND strategic group are published”

The minutes of these meetings will be published by the Rutland Parent Carer Voice

“Welcome – SEND pack with all details of organisations.”

We will review what we send out to families and how we can ensure that everyone is aware that the Local Offer is the central source of information

“Every group/organisation needs to communicate more often”

“More events.”

We are all trying to improve our communication but any ideas regarding specific ways are always appreciated and will consider if more events would help the communication process

“RPCV – would question how engaged with parents they are as receive very little information from them.”

(Response from RPCV)

We publish 4 newsletters a year, containing feedback from the events, boards, groups and committees we attend. We create and send out surveys, via survey monkey and have recently discussed responses about school transport with the LA. We regularly update Facebook as well as share articles and posts, send email’s inviting parents to input on local issues /topics and we hold monthly coffee mornings

We would welcome any suggestions on how we can improve our communication, so please feel free to contact us by email. rutlandpcv@gmail.com

“Helpline for guidance and advice.”

The SENDIASS Rutland Service is always  the best starting point for independent advice and guidance and we will work to increase awareness of this service

Positive feedback was received regarding:

“Level of all family support”

“Being kept up to date with changes”

“Volunteer groups who support families

 “Transport vastly improved”

“Aiming High, Vision, RRFSC and RPCV.”

Great to have some positive feedback – thank you
