Keeping well and healthy is really important for everyone.
Children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) may need support from different health services at different stages in their lives.
The NHS provide universal services that everyone can access and use. Details of these services can be found on the NHS Choices website which also has lots of information and advice on a huge range of conditions
If you have worries or questions about your child’s health, you can talk to your doctor, health visitor or school nurse. They can help with lots of health issues or concerns and can refer you to specialist health services depending on your child’s needs.
Some children and young people may have more complex health needs due to their special needs or disability. These children may be referred to the Community Paediatric team who provide a more specialised service for children and young people living in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.
